SINGAPORE (AsiaOne)- Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang will
be in Siem Reap, Cambodia from 27 to 31 August to attend the 44th ASEAN
Economic Ministers' (AEM) Meeting and the 8th ASEAN Economic Community
(AEC) Council Meeting.
At the meetings, ASEAN Economic Ministers will discuss the progress
in regional economic integration initiatives and focus on working
towards establishing an ASEAN Economic Community by 2015.
In addition, the ministers will discuss ASEAN's initiative to
establish the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), which
is a wider regional agreement involving ASEAN and its FTA Partners.
The ASEAN Economic Ministers will also meet their counterparts from
Australia, Canada, China, India, Japan, Korea, New Zealand and the USA
to discuss issues relating to ASEAN's Free Trade Agreements and economic
relations with the Dialogue Partners.
Mr Lim will be meeting private sector representatives from the ASEAN
Business Advisory Council, the East Asia Business Council and the
US-ASEAN Business Council on the sidelines of the AEM as part of a
regular dialogue.
He will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
