PHNOM PENH, 6th August 2012 (Cambodia Herald) -A
defense lawyer for jailed Beehive Radio director Mam Sonando said
Monday he had not yet been advised if his client could be released on
bail.
"Up
to now, I have not yet received a response from the Phnom Penh
Municipal Court to my request to keep my client out of prison," said
lawyer Sok Sam Eoun.
"According
to the law, the investigating judge has to answer my request in five
days," he said, adding that Mam Sonando’s health was not good.
He
also said that thumbprints of some 90,000 supporters had been collected
although authorities in some provinces had obstructed such support.
Mam
Sonando’s wife Din Phanara said she had visited her husband on Monday.
"If there's something new, the court will send a letter to his lawyer,"
she said.
