PHNOM PENH, 1 August 2012 (Cambodia Herald) - Lawmakers from the ruling Cambodian
People's Party and the opposition Human Rights Party were the most
locally active ahead of commune elections in June, the Committee for
Free and Fair Elections in Cambodia (Comfrel) said.
Between April and June, Comfrel said 69 lawmakers visited local constituents on 731 occasions compared with 71 lawmakers making 660 visits between January to March.
In a statement Tuesday, the committee noted that local activities by the opposition Sam Rainsy and royalist Funcinpec declined.
On the other hand, Cambodian People's Party lawmakers made 445 local visits between April and June, while the Human Rights Party made 190 such visits.
