Cambodia-Vietnam trade

PHNOM PENH, 23 August 2012 (Cambodia Herald) Trade between Vietnam and Cambodia exceeded $1.9 billion dollars in the first seven months of this year, the High Quality Vietnamese Goods Business Association said Thursday.

Speaking at a news conference, an association official said Vietnamese exports to Cambodia came to $1.6 billion in the seven months to July. Imports from Cambodia to Vietnam totaled $329 million in the same period.

In 2011, Vietnamese exports to Cambodia amounted to $2.8 billion while imports from Cambodia were more than $400 million, the official said.

The news conference coincided with Thursday's opening of a five-day trade fair promoting high-quality Vietnamese goods and the association's 10th anniversary in Cambodia.

Based in Ho Chi Minh City, the association groups 120 Vietnamese companies which mostly manufacture garments, textiles and household products.
