MY ASSASSIN FRIENDS
By Rob Cameron

People in the Czech Republic are marking the seventieth anniversary of the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, one of the most senior figures in Germany's Third Reich.

Heydrich - the overall head of security in Nazi Germany and a leading architect of the Final Solution - was killed by British-trained Czechoslovak parachutists in what was codenamed Operation Anthropoid, prompting terrible reprisals by Hitler.

Alois Denemarek was one of the last people to see Heydrich's assassin alive.

It was early June, 1942, and Mr Denemarek had travelled from his home village in Moravia to Prague. There, in a small park by the National Museum, he met his boyhood friend Jan Kubis.

Continue reading the main story
“Of course it was worth it, killing Heydrich. Even though it cost the lives of my family, my brother, my mother, my father...”
said Alois Denemarek.

Several days previously, Kubis and fellow parachutists Jozef Gabcik and Josef Valcik had carried out one of the most audacious attacks of World War Two.

In broad daylight, they had mortally wounded SS Obergruppenfuehrer Reinhard Heydrich, the acting Reichsprotektor of Bohemia and Moravia, as he was heading to Berlin for a meeting with Hitler.

Heydrich was known for his extraordinary brutality - even by Nazi standards. Hitler was beside himself with rage. The Nazis launched a massive manhunt.

"I remember what Jan said to me when I met him," Mr Denemarek, now 94, told the BBC from his home in South Moravia.

They had met to discuss how to help a wounded parachutist who the Denemarek family were sheltering in their hayloft. Kubis advised his friend not to risk bringing him to Prague.

"He said - look, things are a bit tense here at the moment."

That was something of an understatement.

Gun jammed

The story of Operation Anthropoid, devised by Britain's Special Operations Executive (SOE), has been told in countless articles, books and films.

Heydrich was a leading architect of the Final Solution
On 27 May 1942, as Heydrich's open-top Mercedes limousine slowed to round a hairpin bend in Prague, Gabcik - armed with a Sten sub-machine gun - leapt in front of the car and pulled the trigger. The gun jammed.

Heydrich ordered his driver to halt and drew his pistol. Kubis threw a bomb, which exploded near the car, and fled. Heydrich, wounded and in shock, pursued his attackers for several metres before returning to the car and collapsing.

It initially seemed the attempt to kill Heydrich had failed. But he died in Prague's Bulovka hospital eight days later, reportedly from septicaemia from the shrapnel, or possibly fragments of upholstery.

"I'm incredibly proud of what my friend did," Mr Denemarek told the BBC.

"If it wasn't for Jan, I wouldn't be here today. Half the Czech nation wouldn't be here today. Heydrich had terrible plans for us Czechs," he went on.

In January of that year, Heydrich had chaired the infamous Wannsee Conference, which set out plans for the enslavement and murder of 11 million European Jews. The Slavs, according to Heydrich's plans, would be next.

Hun Sen has been the master and manipulator of Cambodian dirty politics for more than 3 decades. We cannot refute this fact.

He even smart ass enough to:
1. avoid being viewed as a personality cult by not allowing to errect his statues;
2. avoid being viewed as a dictator by conducting national elections and have coalition govt;
3. avoid being viewed as a communist country by allowing to have plural parties; etc.
However, he is:
1. able to order all arm forces to crack down on dissidents mercilessly;
2. use state property and budget to serve his political agenda;
3. use state property and positions as tools for dividing oppositions and buy support from people;
4. use state resources and gvt officers to cover up his crime and corruptions and to fool international community again and again, etc, and etc.

He learns this political survival from Yuon Guru. Without the above montioned tricks, he would have been toppled long time ago.

The tide of democracy,of freedom and the guest for justice is an unstoppable force.They are human's soul.Freedom and human is like yin and yang.You can't separate them. Some might say that freedom is like a pair of our eyes,without them the universe is meaningless.

By now,Hun Sen and his cronies should feel like kids,who are doing the impossible thing as they are dreaming to steer Cambodia back into the old classic world of monarchy or cold war era like,where human's lives,human's freedom and country are beneath their feet.

Those world of dark age is now shrinking or disappearing rapidly,as you see the Spring Revolution is underway across the Middle East.One should know that every human is an every image of God and God himself is the judge and Lord of justice.

If they try to assassinate or imprison Ven.loun Sovath,They are,simply, only pushing themselves closer to their grave yard.They should realize by now,they are adding petrol to the burning fire of people who seek justice.Any decent politician would not want to do so,because it is like one is swimming against the strong current of the river.
Actions of human to human or human to nature can be compared to an action of throwing a ball to the wall.If you throw the ball hard,the ball will bounce back hard to you.For examples: Wise man says if you abuse your body you abuse your mind;if you abuse your people,you abuse yourself and your family.Like it or not this is a law of nature.

we are as a nation,certainly,we share our happiness,our joy,our sorrow with one another.If someone is being raped in front of our eyes,as we are on our way home,we just can't close our eyes as we are human and that what Ven. Loun Sovath is trying to do. He is a monk that just can't stand to see this despicable injustice that inflicted by his government to her own people.He is doing his basic humanity to human that most men don't dare to stand up to protect the ones,who are being robbed in daylight and left without help.

There is nothing wrong to do that, although he is a monk.In reality,the whole concept of any religion's teaching or even in the heart and mind of God,if we all could feel it is all about justice.

Ven.Loun Sovath is harmless, he and many others as human should have their full rights and liberty to protest.They are not planning a war or an act of terror to harm society by mean of aggression. He should not have been forced to sign an agreement or remove him from his monkshood.

You can't build your wealth out of people tears and suffering.Their cry is our cry,their sorrow is our sorrow.Nation is a family,that how Ven.Loun Sovath feels.He is more than a monk,and we look up to him as our guiding star in the world where darkness is temporally exist.

If you don't have peace of mind,you ain't have anything.
