Entertainment Gaming Asia, an
American Stock Exchange-listed company with a regional presence in both
Cambodia and the Philippines, will launch its Dreamworld Casino in
Pailin province on Wednesday, according to a company statement.
Dreamworld’s
opening is the first phase of a US$2.5 million casino project expected
to comprise 1,100 square metres of gaming space, 30 game tables and 40
slot machines near the Thailand-Cambodia border, the statement said.
The
casino is to be Dreamworld’s first such development project to open,
and it expects to draw “mass market and VIP premium players visiting
from surrounding areas”.
“With our operational expertise, quality
gaming offerings and dedication to the highest level of customer
service, we believe that will redefine the regional gaming experience in
our markets,” Entertainment Gaming Asia chairman and CEO Clarence Chung
said in the statement.
EGA’s Cambodian operations have so far created 600 jobs for the country, and another 400 are expected by 2013, Chung said.
EGA
has the option to lease about 23,000 square metres of land adjacent to
Dreamworld for additional development, including further casino
operations, hotel rooms, a spa and entertainment facilities, according
to the statement.
EGA officials could not be reached yesterday for further comment.
