Let’s pool our Khmer potential for our country’s development!

Ref. An Open Letter to Dr.Hun Manet

No leadership transition through the back door, please [and no Hun Dynasty either!]

Anonymous said...

We should welcome any body to be the Prime Minister so far as she/he abides by the law. If Hun Maneth is given the premiership by his own father (i.e. by the back door) then why should he respect the other laws?

My reasoning is simple:
1. He needs to be chosen by CPP to be the candidate for a prime minister;
2. He needs to be an eligible candidate (i.e. not having been convicted of any crime).
3. He must contest in a free and fair election against other candidates such as Sam Rainsy, Kem Sokha, Mr Mok, Mr Men, Mr Mao; and then
4. Be endorsed by the majority of votes at the National Assembly.

My personal observation is that:
1. He might be as good as Mr. PhD in Maths described, or
2. He might be as bad as Hun Shit (like father, like son) because:
a] He has done nothing good for Cambodia so far, even though he is a 3 star general with tons of money and influence. Basically, he's done too little to be taken note of;
b] In the face of shocked random killings, land- grabbing and intimidation he chooses to keep his mouth shut and act cool;
c] If he were to be installed in power through the back door, it is more likely that he would follow the one that installed him and ignore the laws.

So, Mr PhD en Math, we appreciate your open letter, but we would rather suggest that you be fair to other Khmer leaders and Kaun Khmers that would be doing things better than could be the Hun dynasty for the Khmer nation.

‘Education’ by itself does not necessarily determine that you are a good leader’

We can only wait to see what Dr Manet can do in the near future. I am afraid that the "sins of his father will eliminate his ability to perform his duty if given a chance" Huncent has committed so many sins/atrocities upon his own people (Khmers) so maybe people won't give Dr Manet the chance because Khmers are afraid that the “like father like son” theory could hold true in this case.

Education by itself does not necessarily determine that you are a good leader; common sense and patriotism for the love of your country without conditions is the key to be such a leader.

A good leader is the one who is willing to serve all people, rich and poor alike; a leader who is willing to preserve/protect and defend the laws of the land [constitutions of Cambodia] with his own life.

Time is not on the Khmer Nation’s side
Dear Khmer Sisters & Brothers,

If PM Hun Sen agrees to bestow his position and power onto his eldest son, Cambodia is, in my view one step better.
Unlike his father, Dr. Hun Manet, in addition to his academic credentials, had lived and breathed Democracy in the US and the UK. Also young Manet was never a Khmer Vietminh fighter.

It would be easier and better to deal with Dr. Manet than his old Vietminh father.
Yes, we will still hold elections. And the NEW Prime Minister will then be challenged in free and fair elections to continue holding his post.

Other solutions require too much time, and may not solve the problems.
Time is not on the Khmer Nation’s side: she could become Yuon's before too long.

Let's remember:
" You kill the snake with the stick you HAVE, not
the stick you WISH you had
"

Therefore, this solution is practical, efficient, and
best of all, no Khmer bloodshed.

Long Live Kampuchea!!!

...................................
Let's stick with democratic principles and keep hold of our integrity.

Let's look at examples in other countries: Bush junior was president because people elected him according to his own credentials, not because his father was a president. Likewise, Hilary Clinton was elected not because her husband was a former president.

Even in China and VN they follow a system that no one or family is above the law. They have a committee to elect a new leader every ten years. That's why China and Yuon have been developing their respective countries rapidly.

All Cambodians should say NO to nepotism. We should collectively make our voice heard that "any attempt to transfer power in family line is TOTALLY REJECTED". The cheap excuses like the renewal of war or more bloodshed should not have a place in our mind. However, it is the injustice and oppression in society that leads to war.

We, the children of Khmer Angkor, should have a high morality, a right mindset without viruses in our mind, and steadfastly uphold the principle of democracy, abide by the laws (the good ones?), and promote social justice.

We should make ourselves clear that anyone that abuses power must be subjected to punishment, and anyone (Maneth, included) who accesses or exercises power illegally, is shameful and gains no respect in the society.

‘Other countries are not subject to the threat of becoming the next Kampuchea Krom’
Dear Usa,

You got caught in analysis paralysis.
Khmer problems cannot be solved by using other country's solutions. Those countries are not subjects of a SECOND Kampuchea Krom.
The proposed solution is by no means a sign of weakness. It neither is nepotism as you see it.
It is merely a vehicle to achieve the end result.
And then, the democracy process shall take place.
I am still a SRP supporter. It may take at least 15 years for SRP to win. Meanwhile Hun Sen and CPP are selling or leasing our lands and other national resources to Yuon and others.
As you probably know, the workers that Yuon brought in to cultivate the leased lands are Viet soldiers and officers. We all know what they will do, the time comes. That's just one example.
Should we start a revolution, we know who will
fight alongside Hun Sen's troops.
Then Khmers will engage in civil wars. Look at what happens in Syria almost one year and half
when the arm uprising started.
Time is not on our side.
Our Motherland is very sick, let's cure her first, before it's too late.
I for one would adopt anybody's idea as long as
it solves the problems.

Yes, Khmers too are smart.
There are Khmer university professors, scientists, engineers, doctors, researchers, and the likes, in Cambodia, and abroad.

Let's maximize our Khmer potentials for OUR country!

And finally,

Dear Mieng, Pu, Yaey, Ta [brothers and sisters]

I am not much of an educated person, but I see something different here.

At Khmerisation here and at KI Media, usually lots of Khmers hate each other. They use foul words; they curse one another etc. etc. But now, it’s different. They talk to each other in a constructive and courteous manner. No bad words. It’s very good for our discussion.

I do not know why this sudden ‘change’ comes about.
Could somebody tell me why?

Love all Khmers.

To 23 May 2012 9:53 PM person,

You pointed out #1. You said Hun Manet need to be pick by CPP. Do you hear yourself. The PM of a country needed to be pick by the Khmers people not the CPP. To be voted in by the people not the CPP.

Dear Khmerization,

Congratulations to you all for compelling such a beautiful train of thoughs and wishes.
If memory serves me well, this is the only time and place, I notice Khmers, and Khmer posters in particular discuss and exchange our views intellectually.
I beleive we, collectively are making progress.
We all thank you for hard and tedious work.

Dear 25 May 2012 2:55 AM

I'd like to exlain to you " You pointed out #1. You said Hun Manet need to be pick by CPP. Do you hear yourself. The PM of a country needed to be pick by the Khmers people not the CPP. To be voted in by the people not the CPP".

This point is about his internal issue in his CPP. He needs to be picked up by the CPP polibureau first, so that he can represent CPP as a prime minister candite.

To -A Khmer Patriot: I apreicate your clear demonstration. As per my reference to other countries like US, China, and VN, it is in the context that no individual is above the system. People can come and go but the system remains exist. Top leaders have to be changed according to the systems.

We too, have to advocate for a strong system and against a cult of autocratism or nepotism. We, as people of the country, can contribute to the nation by supporting and promoting the right practices and say no to authoritarian, nepotism, bureaucratic and cult of promoting one person.

Hun Maneth needs to prove to his peer in CPP of his capabilities to be a PM and win endorsement by the polibureau first before he can run as a PM candidate. As does, a jump in for a new gang member needs to be tested before he/she being accepted in the fold.

Again, it is important to follow global rule like human rights, democracy, and best practices. You cannot act the otherway and say it is a human right or democracy of Cambodian way. There are only one human rights, ie. international human rights with its 5 characteristics. Without those five characteristics, you (hun sen) cannot say that you respect human rights or you have your own form of human rights.

While you are so quick to ignore laws and embrace Hun Maneth to be next PM under the excuses that there will no more war. May I ask you some questions?
Would PM Hun Maneth ensure you that there would be no war?
How about Hun Many, Hun Mana, Hun Manith? Children of Kun Kim, Ke Kim Yan, Meas Sopea? If they want to be Prime Minister too? There are no rules, no laws to obey. Would this lead to war too?

Back to the existing rules, man!

While you said: Let's remember:
" You kill the snake with the stick you HAVE, not
the stick you WISH you had "

Therefore, this solution is practical, efficient, and
best of all, no Khmer bloodshed.

By this, you suggest that Hun Maneth is the stick that we have. Are you they dreaming? Hun Maneth is the stick in Hun Sen's hands (forever). Your only tiny stick is your vote. Why you want to throw away your tiny stick.

Usa

Wrong wrong wrong. Hun Manat is the dictators Son. His father was a murderers and was a Khmer Rogue. CPP are all Khmer Rogue. We don't need to throw away the stick, just look around the corner. Sam Rainsy should be our choice. Not the murderers son.

Thank you School of Vice for helping to compile the readers' comments and posted them on the main page.

Indeed, people here are getting more civil to one another. It is a good sign that we are talking to each other rather than fighting each other. Please continue your civility to one another. Thanks.

This is divide and rule.
Khmer old saying: "If we paint the faces of cocks, they would fight to their death".
Hun Sen is doing the same thing in Cambodian politics by painting the faces of Kem Sokha, Sam Rainsy and Ranariddh. they would fight each other until they are exhausted and Hun sen get down from the top of the mountain to fire a final shot.
His tricks are simple but hard to avoid such as:
1. Spread fault info that Kim Sokha is his man, so people hate Kem Sokha
2. Knowing that SRP so trong, he secretely support Kem Sokha to divide opposition vote.
3. He support Nhek Bunchay to kill Ranariddh politically, so Funcinpec nearly collapses,
4. He produces enough proof that Nhek Bunchay got involt in drug production with Chea Chung, so Hun Sen can use Nhek bunchay easily
5. He gives money to former SRP members to work for him and dissiminate news that he has many others like Eng Chay Eang working for him, therefore, SRP seems to distrust each other.
6. Now he knows that both Ranariddh party and funcinpec nearly collapse, he demands them to unite with a promise of some government posts after next election.
7. He needs Funcinpec to be in coalitions again to be look good in the eyes of int'l community, so he gets both diplomatic and financial support from them
8. He now creates a new political environment by making the democrats to hate Ranariddh and Nhek Bunchey more than him and makes Ranariddh to go beyond the road that he could return to unite with Sam Rainsy or Kem Sokha
9. Again he makes SRP hate Kem Sokha, so that they can't sit and talk to unite
10. Ranariddh himself has no way to go because the democrats hates him, so he has no choice but to hug N Bunchey and work as dogs for Hun Sen altogether,

This is the win-win chess game for Hun Sen that he could see 10 moves ahead.

Why we don't cut his winning rythm by not playing his game such as:
1. Spread the news that some SRP defectors actually are working for SRP
2. Play the game that SRP and Kem Sokha has actually united already but pretend to be not to.
3. At least sign a loose alliance of democrats so they could meet and talk, and have some solidary in the eyes of the voters.
4. Need to creates favorable admosphere so that people have confident and trust in the democratic leaders and want to joint.
5. Learn to use the strength of others or your enemys to to fight for u or at least neutralize them.

There is no wrong or no right we are only talking about future potential's leader of our beloved Cambodia.Everyone is entitle to his/her opinions base on whats he/she thinking processes at this moment,no one can predict future especially with Cpp is charges today.

My person opinion is No NEPOTISM,NO POWER TRANSFER FROM FATHER TO SON.Its bad for the country to spead this kind of practice and nothing is going to change from NEPOTISM,the father (Hunsen) is still interference if Dr Manet takes over without Democratic election process.

All i can say is that NEPOTISM is bad for any society....Communism=NEPOTISM=Monarchy transfer power from father to son like N.Korea is bad for the people.

Democracy is the way, vote for the people by the people to run the country the leaders work to benefit their people as whole.

Dear Compatriot Usa,

First of all, thank you for being civil.
Please hold off your preaching on democracy, human rights, and nepotism, in particular. With just a little supplemental research, I can write a book on the subjects.
Let me make my case clear, once for all.
I, too like many others detest nepotism; but if it is used as a tool to solve a unique problem, then be it.

Let's solve the problems at hands.
You and I are on the same page, in fact at the same equation. To break up the logjam, I just moved one unknown from the left side to the right.
Let me explain it with a driving analogy. We intend to push Hun Sen off from the driver seat to the passenger seat. He can pick any successor he wants, including one of his children, preferably Dr. Manet. Yes, King ( Kong ) Hun Sen will do the "picking", not the CPP politbureau. He relies on his Jungle's
Constitution.
Hun Sen, you and I share 99%DNAs of chimpanzee. But Kong, I meant King Hun Sen does not have full 1% of intelligence nor intellect. Hopefully, the chosen does.
Now,OUR SRP is primed for a
" Kill " on a young, inexperienced and untested baby tiger.
The perception and support, if any of the Khmer people in large will then be different, if not diminished for the Hun dynasty.
Instead of taking 15 to 20 years, may be SRP can win in 5.
Let's try a NEW solution.

A definition of insanity is keep doing the SAME things, and expect DIFFERENT results.
