Mr. Kem Sokha addressed 500 supporters in Phnom Penh on Sunday, May 6th.
Mr. Kem Sokha, president of Human Rights Party, said real supports for the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) of Prime Minister Hun Sen is at about 30%.
Mr. Kem Sokha's comments came after Prime Minister Hun Sen claimed on 5th May that more than 60% of the people supported him.
Speaking to about 500 supporters in Phnom Penh on Sunday 6th May, Mr. Kem Sokha said real supports for the CPP stand at 30% and the other 20-30% are not real supporters, but those who said they voted for the CPP because the party used state money to buy their votes, used intimidation and threats and also created fears by telling the people that if the CPP did not win the election, there will be war. "The situations where the government was used to serve the CPP is like he used his position as prime minister and state TVs to serve his party, used government forums to serve his party and criticised opposition parties and used government officials (employees) to serve his party etc", said Mr. Kem Sokha.
Mr. Kem Sokha's comments came after Prime Minister Hun Sen made comments on election during an inauguration of a groundbreaking of a road and bridge construction in Stung Treng province on Saturday, May 5th, in which he said: "I have set my goals. If the people's confidence in me is below 60%, I will leave and I will not represent the party or hold the prime ministership".
Mr. Kem Sokha, however, said that if Mr. Hun Sen is very confident like he said he should open for free competition where all parties have equal access to independent and free media campaigns. He said all TVs, radios and printed media, state or private, are under the control of the ruling party. "If the prime minister is so confident and if his supports are really over 60%, he has to allow all parties free access to all TV stations. When the Human Rights Party hired air time from a radio station in Siem Reap province, the authority threatened the owner of that radio station. And when the Human Rights Party hired air time from a radio station in Battambang province, the authority cancelled its licence. This is the cowardice of the prime minister", he said.
RFA is unable to reach Minister of Information Khieu Kanarith to respond to Mr. Kem Sokha's allegations.

Good comments coming from HRP.
To Khmerization.
Thank you for your work and effort. As a believer of democracy and anit-CPP, can we please see more work of HRP, DLP and SRP. If we can help each other out to expose CPP, we may have some hope that we might be able to work together in the future and attack CPP. THis is one way we can stop attacking each other and support each other goals.
We need each other more then before.
Thanks, Aus,
The ways you all have done until now, all of you will not able beat the CPP strategies in the near future, because you don't have a real structure and right fundamental basic of the leading system and political level.
You should change your strategy and learn to respect other group as a political opponent and not your enemy.
BRAVO 7MAY2012 YOU ARE THE ONLY SMART GUY ON KI SINCE I WAS CHECKING THESE PEOPLE OUT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU EDUCATIONAL FIELD IS BUT YOU ARE SO RIGTH. THESE POLITICIAN HAVE NO FUNDAMENTAL OR STRUCTURAL OF HOW TO WIN OVER THEIR OPPONENTS. THEY KEEP ATTACKIG THEM.
SITH PHILA.PA
The Human Rights Party and Kem Sokha should stop attacking the SRP and the SRP should also stop attacking the HRP. If they attacked each other, the one who will benefit is the CPP and Hun Sen. Both of them should then concentrate on attacking Hun Sen like what Kem Sokha is doing now.
Needs to work together to benefits all khmers and defeat cpp yuonslaves,no time to pick a fight among democracy-lovers[HRP&SRP ] works for the same purpose in which to deliberates khmers from Communism Huncent yuon's clans.
time is now to work together to kick out Cpp from Khmer politic for good or will never defeat Cpp,we all fight each others like school children
The enemies of democracy is communism Huncent (cpp)...

Yes, I agree, our new strategy should be, working with other polical opponenet as your friends, but CPP are the enemy of the Khmer people. They serve noone but themselevs and their Vietnamese counterparts.
I actually agree with a lot of what Mr. Kem Sokha, president of Human Rights Party, said. He is certainly right about the ruling party control all the air time, the flow of information and has more money to spend. When all television and radio stations are control by the government, it is hard for people to get exact information about other parties and when the government has almost all the resource to mobilize and to provide to people, it is hard for people to see the other side of aisles. It does not have the equal plain field and it is the reason which the ruling party (CPP) is getting most of the votes.
If the government allow the opposition parties to have some control of media networks, the Hun Sen’s government would not last this long. However, I still believe that Prime Minister Hun Sen would not last more then ten more years. As the country moving forward as fast as today, I think his luck will run out around 2023. Even though he said that he will run the country until he is eighty years old, I every much doubt that. I believe the CPP will break up as more and more people in his party begin to challenge him. I think some one in the CPP party, not related to the Prime Minister, will take over.
