Japan has told Cambodia it plans to provide 1.51 billion yen in
grants to help the country recover from damage caused by last year's
torrential rains and promote disaster prevention measures.
At a meeting with visiting Cambodian
Prime Minister Hun Sen on Saturday, Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda said
the aid would help finance such projects as road and drainage repairs.
In their talks on how to respond to North Korea's launch of what was
believed to be a long-range missile earlier this month, Noda
underscored the importance of encouraging Pyongyang to take concrete
actions toward denuclearization. Also, the international community needs
to form a united front by implementing U.N. Security Council
resolutions, he said.
Hun Sen expressed concern over North Korea's move, saying it poses a security threat.
