Cambodian ambassador to Thailand rebutts the Bangkok Post's Umesh Pandey

By Ambassador You Ay (pictured)
Letter to the editor of Bangkok Post

Regarding ''Poor Cambodia not looking so 'poor' anymore'' (BP, Commentary, April 6).

I wish to clarify and respond to a number of issues raised in the commentary to ensure that the readers have factual and balanced views, as follows:

First, by stating that Cambodia has the ''highest number of Lexus vehicles per capita,'' you have either made an assumption or generalisation or you have lied about it or tried to invent a reality. Where did you get this number? It is a crazy number! It is simply just a sign of economic growth and development.

Second, it is an insult to both Cambodia and its neighbours to imply that all of Cambodia's neighbouring countries would ''import'' Cambodian beggars, just because you did not happen to see many beggars on the streets in Cambodia. It is more insulting for Cambodia to claim that the government had imprisoned all beggars. I don't know how this journalist would be able to come up with this bizarre idea! It's simply a positive sign of improvement of the livelihoods of the people.

Third, there is no need for Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen to ''steal the limelight'' from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. The prime minister is the longest-serving leader of Asean, only after the Sultan of Brunei. He is not new to Asean or to this region.

Fourth, the issue of ''South China Sea'' was part of the agenda of the 20th Asean Summit from the very beginning, but it was under the title of ''Implementation of the DOC'' _ which is the normal way we have done things in Asean. To say that Cambodia managed to ''omit the crucial issue ... from discussions'' is absolutely wrong.

Fifth, to argue that the prime minister ''managed to intimidate a journalist from your own country'' is not right because there was no intimidation at all. What the prime minister stated was that a professional journalist should be able to ask relevant questions.

Sixth, Cambodia has no ''begging bowl'' but Cambodia welcomes any countries wishing to support its development. What you said is nonsense, and please stop trying to label Cambodia wrongly.

YOU AY
Cambodia ambassador to Thailand

You Aoy, you are Khmer traitor. Is it insulting that he speaks the truth?

Why are you talking like a CPP slave, you should be returning the replies by coming up in some facts.

Im sure anyone can see how rich the CPP and the Vietminh Hun Sen, are from killing the Khmer and selling the Khmer land to the Vietnamese and to the foreigners.

Be a good CPP slave, and tell us how much you get from bribery and corruption.

You Ay is one of the most corrupt CPP officials. A few years ago, she grabbed hundreds of hectares of some poor people's land. She only gave back some when Hun Sen threatened to sack her.

11:52 AM, All of you CPP supporters always reject outright any reports about the bad actions of CPP officials. You never do any research before your denial or you don't want to believe it?

I read somewhere that You Ay did took land from people in Kampong Speu and she only returned some back to the farmers when Hun sen threatened to sack her from Minister of Woman Affairs. However, after this incident, You Aye was transferred to be Cambodia's ambassador to Thailand.

Here is a report from Sralanh Khmer newspaper:
"Chumteav You Ay, the secretary of state of the ministry of women affairs who always denied that she never grab lands belonging to the people, she even went on to claim that she gives out lands to the people. However, villagers in Phnom Sruoch district, Kompong Speu province, said that this chumteav grabs people’s lands, and wherever she is taking this action, violence is sure to follow."

Boo!!! You Ay is naive and unreliable!

How did this woman end up being Cambodian Ambassador to Thailand?

Was she coming from the known CPP family ties and network?

You Ay, you are right.
Thai is a country changed its name from Siam to Thai by a world war criminal Plek Phibun Songkream who allied with Japan during WWII killing million civilians and killing allies.
It's amazing that 60 million Thai never protestest against their war criminal leader but to accept him as their Thai greater leader while million innocent people and allies never have justice for his war crime against humanity during WWII.

You Ay is a silly woman who doesn't see the differences between the black and white. She just wants to get paid doing her dirty job or politics for the corrupted and bad CPP boss, the Vietnamese dog Hun Sen and CPP clans.
