Bangkok Post is a piece of crap, but is it right this time?

Re: I love Umesh Pandey and I hate Hun Sen

Anything came out of the Bangkok Post is a piece of crap. The Bangkok Post never says anything good about its neighbors. Just a bunch of jealous Thais who see Cambodia is moving toward a developed country. They write their report based on fears that Cambodia will catch up or surpass their society. Does anyone ever hear the Bangkok Post says anything really good about Cambodia? Honestly, I wouldn’t take the Bangkok seriously.

For once, I would like them to say something that would criticize the Thai Royal family instead of Hun Sen and Cambodia. I know they are just a bunch of cowards as well. So, don’t fire up with this report. If this report came from a news organization such as CNN, CBS, NBC, MSN, CCTV then it would hold some water. I doubt that this kind of reports would be well-served in a well-known news organization anyway. They would consider it as trash.

It is hideous for the Bangkok Post to discredit itself this way. I would be ashamed to write this report. So, before they spread rumor about my country, let me fill them in on what I heard about their country.

When George W. Bush paid an official visit to Thailand in October 2003 to attend the 11th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Leaders Meeting in Bangkok, the Thai government tried to do its best to clean up the image of Thailand, the land of smile. Many people were forced out of the streets of Bangkok, including the local venders. Beggars were completely dragged out from the streets just to hide its national image in a country full of inequality and classism. Many vendors have lost their revenues and many beggars went starving. Even street dogs were removed. When those world leaders finally departed from Bangkok, the streets of Bangkok went back to their normality which are stinky and dirty. Therefore, I would not jump the gun, when I read the report from the Bangkok Post. it is easier for them to see my bald head than seeing theirs.

Under PM Hun Sen's leadership, Cambodia will never, ever catch up with her neighbours. He ruled the country for 32 years and he kept saying that Cambodia had started from scratch and everything was destroyed. To create human resources such as doctors, engineers etc., you need only 10 to 15 years and to build infrastructure you need even less than 20 years.

Mr. Hun Sen, you built the country from 73 percent full of forests to less than 32 percent; you built bridges and roads but you have destroyed them with your own trucks transporting illegal timbers. The cities were built without town planning, everywhere is an eye sore and you brought a lot of dump/old vehicles to the country. Apart from that, you have created slave labour and sent them to other countries and replaced Vietnamese labour into the country. You depleted all natural resource such as fishery, mining and forestry and you have got instead were dumped goods from your neighbours.

Now you are in desperate needs of more monies by giving 99 years lease to foreign investors and let them own 100% company and property but still you have not generated incomes from those investments, but instead you have created conflicts, sufferings and misery for your own people. Your morality is cheap and you have no manner. Every time you gave a speech, you insulted your own people, your critics, and above all you criticised the analysts and you have zero tolerance toward journalists.

We have a classless society since 1979, but now your ministers and other people have bowed to you and do duck walk for you and your beloved wife.

For your foreign policy, you are silent with Vietnam's encroachments of our borders; however you do not know where to stand in regard to Thailand because of your eternal friendship with Thai former PM Thaksin Shinawatra. During the Asean summit, you created mistrustd among your Asean neighbours, and run a choatic team where each of your ministers did not know their roles and thus created anarchy and rivalry among themselves.

The world has complained about the lack of sanitation, mismanagement, chaos among journalists, there is no press releases during the conference and let the head of states come out individually and give briefings to their own journalists. Foreign minister [Hor Namhong] lacked coordination with his PM (Hun Sen) and he spoke with clumsy words and broken English and also mumbling. This is an embarrassment to Cambodia.

There are some missing parts of Umesh Pandey’s observations.

If we are to look at how long it took to rebuild the country,

-we can see that after World War II, Europe lost 60 million lives, many countries were destroyed but it took them 15 years to become one of the world leading industrial nations.

-more recently, Japan's nuclear and natural disaster cost the country thousands of lives and trillions of dollars and destroyed half of the country, but it took Japan only a few weeks to recover, today it seems like it never happened.

-Vietnam had many wars and in last civil war it was estimated that 6 millions Vietnamese lives were lost. Today, Vietnam controls Indochina- Laos and Cambodia - and is also one of the world's leading exporters.

-Cambodia lost 2 million lives and 32 years after the genocide, it is now the world's most corrupted country. The PM [Hun Sen] is the most dumbest PM in the world, selling away natural resources, illegal land grabbing, trafficked and exported humans as maids and as fishermen to foreign countries and allowing illegal foreign immigrants to freely flow to Cambodia for the exploitation of Cambodians and Cambodia's natural resources, thus creating many unrests and civil dispute between the government versus the Cambodian people.

The uneducated Vietminh [Hun Sen] need to be removed. He should have never been allowed so much powers for a son of a peasant farmer from the rural country side.
