PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) – The opposition Sam Rainsy Party has commemorated the 15th anniversary of a grenade attack on March 30 in 1997 which killed at least 16 people and injured more than 100.
About 100 lawmakers and activists from the party attended Friday's ceremony in front of the former National Assembly.
Speaking by video conference from France, where he is in exile, party leader Sam Rainsy said justice was a long time coming. "The international community will not forget the grenade attack in Cambodia," he said.
At the ceremony, the families of victims appealed to government to open an investigation and apprehend the assailant and those who ordered the attack.
