Kuala Lumpur, March 23 (Bernama) - A mother and her two daughters pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here today to charges of trafficking a Cambodian house maid last month with the intention of exploiting her.
Soo Ah Lai, 59, allegedly trafficked Chhum Pov, 28, and forcibly exploited her at a house in Bandar Manjalara Kepong here at 3:30 pm on February 18.
Soo's daughters, Yap Siew Ling, 37, and Yap Siew Lee, 30, faced the same charge.
They were charged under section 13 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and and Anti-Smuggling of Migrant Acts 2007 which provides for a maximum of 20 years imprisonment and fine upon conviction.
Judge Hasbi Hasan allowed each accused bail at RM10,000 ($3,000) with one surety and set April 24 for case mention.

He also ordered for the three cases to be tried together.
DPP Nurul Ashiqin Zulkifli had earlier offered bail at RM20,000 each based on the seriousness of the offence.
Nor Azri Mohd Arif, who represented Soo, Siew Ling and Siew Lee however appealed for a lesser sum citing that Soo was unemployed, one of her daughters was a single mother and the other a housewife.
