Angkor Heritage Area Consultative Commission to be set up in collaboration with Australia, UNESCO

PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - The Cambodian government has decided to set up a consultative commission in collaboration with Australia and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to manage the Angkor area.

According to a letter signed by Prime Minister Hun Sen released Saturday, Cabinet Minister Sok An (pictured) will chair the Angkor Heritage Area Consultative Commission and Tourism Minister Thon Khon will be permanent vice chairman.

In addition to managing the Angkor area, the letter said that the commission's duties would be to work with development partners to seek funds and to cooperate with private companies in the tourism sector.
