PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - Japan plans to host a four-day cultural festival in Phnom Penh this month to introduce traditional and modern Japanese culture to Cambodian audiences, the Japanese embassy said Monday.
The festival's opening at the Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center on February 16 will be highlighted by a performance by traditional Japanese band Aun in collaboration with Cambodian musicians, a statement said.
Another highlight will be the premiere of the Japanese movie “We can not change the world. But we wanna build a school in Cambodia”, based on the real-life experience of a Japanese student who built a school in Cambodia.
Japanese group Ram Wire will perform at the festival on February 18, the embassy said, adding that other features would include demonstrations of karate and kendo, cinema, a Honda awards ceremony, a Japanese speech contest, lectures by Japanese scholars, flower arrangement, origami, mochitsuki and a science show.
