PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - A senior government official blamed land disputes Wednesday on companies with land concessions which failed to used legal channels to resolve problems with residents.
"Not all land concessions cause disputes and violate the rights of residents," said Tith Sothea (pictured), spokesman for the Press and Quick Reaction Unit of the office of the Council of Ministers.
The senior government official was responding to a statement earlier Wednesday by the opposition Human Rights Party which appealed to police and other authorities to arrest immediately company owners and others suspected of violating the rights of residents in land disputes without waiting for orders from Prime Minister Hun Sen.
