PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - , From hairstyles to pop music, Cambodians have become obsessed with Korean culture. Korean food is now becoming popular as well.

Phnom Penh features many Korean restaurants and Monivong Boulevard has at least three including one from North Korea.

Sothea Roth said that in addition to her interest in Korean music, she now also liked Korean food. "I tried it because I wanted to know about the taste. I think Korean food is also my favorite now," she said.

Since Korean culture is so popular with young people, the South Korean embassy has started promoting the country's food. Ambassador Chang Ho-Jin and his wife recently promoted Korean food at a food festival to which many Cambodians were invited.

The festival at the Intercontinental Hotel drew a lot of people eager to taste Korean food.
Because they were so many, there were not enough tables and some had to sit on the floor.
The queues were long and some people were so eager that they jumped the queue.

Dishes included sliced raw cuttlefish with chili sauce, sliced pickled skate with vegetables in chili sauce, red kimchi and mung bean jelly mixed with vegetables and beef.

For those who are interested in Korean food, they easily find the restaurants which serve the Korean food.

Apart from Monivong Boulevard, Sothearos Street is also home to several Korean restaurants.
