Gen. Mol Roeub, former intelligence chief of Prime Minister Hun Sen Bodyguard Unit, has died of illness at Calmette Hospital at 5 a.m this morning, Wednesday 11th January, due to chronic diabetes and heart disease.
Gen. Mol Moeub, who, along with Gen. Hing Bun Heang and Gen. Sao Sokha, was a trusted confidant of Prime Minister Hun Sen and one of the most powerful military chiefs in Cambodia in the mid 1990s, has been accused by human rights groups of orchestrating the 1997 grenade attack that killed 19 people and wounded 190 others. He was very active in the coup against the Funcinpec-led government of Prince Ranariddh in 1997 when over 100 of the prince's loyalists were brutally tortured and then executed.
However, after the 1997 coup, he disappeared from public view, probably due to a fallout with Mr. Hun Sen.

Mol Reup played a critical role in the 1997 coup that toppled the stupid Ranarith and gave full pover to Hun Sen.
he might got poison by hun sen.
I think Hun Sen ordered the doctor to kill him because Mol Roeub might hold some of Hun Sen's secrets, like drug trafficking and the executions of Funcinpec loyalists during the 1997 coup and the killings of democracy protesters in 1997 and 1998.
