
Spokesman Yim Sary said Choung Chou Ngy was accused of violating the association's code of ethics and that a letter had already been sent to the lawyer asking him to clarify his actions.
“Twenty-seven associate members will lead the association hearing. It will be more or less the same as a court hearing," he said, adding that Choung Chou Ngy must have a reasonable excuse if he does not appear.
“I think he will show up since it is not a big problem,” he added.
Choung Chou Ngy can defend himself or hire another lawyer, although “he has to inform the associate lawyers if he wishes to hire a lawyer to defend him,” Yim Sary said.
The Kandal Provincial Court has accused Choung Chou Ngy of aiding and abetting opposition activist Mean Peng to escape from Kandal prison on September 23.
On Thursday, the Bar Association nominated seven associate lawyers to defend him at his upcoming court hearing.
Choung Chou Ngy could not be contacted.
