It might not have a particularly high profile as yet, but Cambodia Bay is a MICE*, leisure tourism and business travel destination we’re likely to hear a lot more about in future.
Covering four provinces of Cambodia – Preah Sihanouk, Koh Kong, Kampot and Kep – it’s a region of beaches, appealing scenery and economic development, attracting strong international investment which in itself is driving business traffic.
It is being positioned by the government as Cambodia’s third key international tourism destination after Siem Reap-Angkor and Phnom Penh.
In addition to hotel projects, development plans include an impressive integrated resort.
Hitherto under-utilised infrastructure is also being put to good use, notably the upgraded Sihanoukville Airport. Cambodia Angkor Air has begun a service linking the southern city with Siem Reap. Cruise traffic is also to be fostered.
Cambodia Bay last year became a member of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World ‘club’, a global organisation based in France which sets high requirements for membership and includes areas such as Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay.

*MICE = Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions.
Acronym MICE, if expanded, give a general idea about the term:
M = Meetings (To manage all arrangements; which is required in normal general Meetings)
I = Incentive (To organize incentive tour for your corporate)
C = Conferences (To organize meetings of wide level called conference and manage all arrangements for larger groups)
E= Exhibitions (To organize exhibitions at global level on various exhibition grounds)
Sometimes, ‘C’ and ‘E’ are referred to as conventions and events respectively.
