PHNOM PENH, December 27, 2011 (Cambodia Herald) - Wat Phu, an ancient Khmer temple complex in southern Laos dating back to the 5th century, is expected to attract 130,000 foreign tourists between October and the end of next year, the Vientiane Times reported Tuesday.
The report said the temple, about an hour's drive north of the Cambodia-Lao border, received only about 10,000 foreign visitors a year until 2001 when it was listed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a World Heritage site.
Khankham Kaenboutta, director of the World Heritage Department of the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, told the newspaper that the number of foreigners visiting the complex had grown by as much as 25 percent a year over the past decade, with most coming from Thailand and Europe.
The report said visitor numbers increased dramatically after an access road, information centre and other facilities were developed with support from the ministry and local authorities as well as Indian, French, and Italian projects.

We Khmer have lost 1.2 millions square kilometres since 12th century and it is now facing a final wipe out by Viet immigration.
Even Angkor Wat is now run by Hanoi's businessmen,Xoc Kong,a close friend to Hun Sen.
Not a single illegal Viet have been send back to Vietnam since 1979.It is a big black hole in Cambodia politics under Hun's leadership.
We have been sedated by Hanoi's new casting -spells.
