Wish You Were Here Trailer

Who knows what happened on that fateful night when they were dancing under a full moon in Cambodia? Aussie actor Joel Edgerton is becoming a Sundance regular. I was first introduced to him seeing Animal Kingdom there, now he's returning again this year with another Oz drama, Wish You Were Here, which was recently confirmed as an opening film of the 2012 Sundance Film Festival (in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition). Edgerton stars along with Teresa Palmer, Felicity Price and Antony Starr as two couples who vacation to Cambodia, but only three of them return. It looks very good, I'll be catching it.

Watch the first official trailer for Kieran Darcy-Smith's Wish You Were Here, embedded via YouTube:

Four friends lose themselves in a carefree South-East Asian holiday. Only three come back. Who amongst them knows what happened on that fateful night when they were dancing under a full moon in Cambodia?

Wish You Were Here is both written and directed by Australian actor-turned-filmmaker Kieran Darcy-Smith, a founding member of Blue Tongue Films making his feature debut after directing a few shorts years ago. The screenplay was co-written by Darcy-Smith and actress Felicity Price, who also stars in this as Alice. It was shot mostly in New South Wales, Australia and Cambodia. Wish You Were Here is set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in early 2012, where it will hope to pick up a distributor and some acclaim.
