PHNOM PENH, (Cambodia Herald) - The Japanese Business Association of Cambodia (JBAC) is expected to have 70 to 80 regular member companies by the end of the year, up from the regular membership of 69, JBAC chairman Hiromitsu Iwatate said Friday.
Speaking at a business and investment forum, Iwatate said Japanese investors were currently interested in countries such as Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Bangladesh.
The main potential sectors for investment in Cambodia are garments and textiles, food processing, agriculture and tourism along with the retail business, transportation services and natural resource development, he added.
According to JBAC, the Council of Ministers approved 19 Japanese companies between January and October with investments amounting to $6 million out of total projects costs of $6 billion.
