PREAH VIHEAR, (Cambodia Herald) - Prime Minster Hun Sen on Tuesday ordered Cambodian soldiers, especially those stationed in border areas, to avoid getting involved illegal logging in Thailand and Cambodia.
"The soldiers shall report to the prime minister if they know of any commanders involved in illegal logging," he said in a ceremony to inaugurate National Road 62 in Preah Vihear, which borders Thailand.
He added that illegal logging occurred not only in Cambodia but also Thailand. Some Cambodians had been shot dead while others had been sent to prison for illegally entering Thailand to chop down off trees. Hun Sen said such activities sometimes caused border disputes between Cambodia and Thailand.
