A lawyer for the opposition Sam Rainsy Party has filed a complaint with Pursat provincial court against an official from the opposition Human Rights Party, accusing him of forging documents for the resignation of an SRP provincial council member.
HRP official Heng Chanthoun faked a document stating SRP provincial council member Nguon Porseng had resigned from his post, the party claims in a press release.
The statement also alleges Heng Chanthoun, who defected to HRP from the SRP earlier this year, forged resignation documents for a number of SRP commune and district council members in Pursat who did not defect to HRP with him.
Choung Choungy, a lawyer for SRP, said he had filed a complaint against Heng Chanthoun, but declined to comment further.
Heng Chanthoun could not be reached for comment yesterday, while HRP spokesman Pol Ham said the complaint was not related to the party.
SRP lawmaker Kim Sourphirith said the party had enough evidence to file the complaint against Heng Chanthoun, who he claimed had forged documents relating to more than 10 commune council members.
Nguon Porseng told the Post he had been removed from his post by the Ministry of Interior based on Heng Chanthoun’s fake documentation.
“I have never applied for resignation,” he said.
