A former world number five, Slovakia’s Daniela Hantuchova (pictured) posed for a 2012 charity calendar which and the proceeds she’ll receive will be donated to the House of Smile, a hospital in Cambodia which supports orphan children with HIV positive. The calendar was presented on November 2011 in Bratislava.
Regardless of losing her both matches at Bali WTA Championships (lost to third seeded German Sabine Lisicki and Russian Nadia Petrova), the Slovakian super star took time for humanity and posed for the charity calendar.
The stunning Hantuchova displayed her caring side to the world by posing for this calendar. The money earned will be donated to Cambodia’s House of Smile where HIV needy children and orphans, who are HIV positive, are taken care of.
In an interview, the 28-year-old Slovakian said, “The photo shoot for the calendar was a lot of fun because we did it in Monte Carlo, where I live. The whole team was great once again and it was more fun than work, because we all knew it was for a great cause. All money from the calendar goes to the hospital in Cambodia where we are treating and taking care of orphans who are HIV positive. The improvement we have seen in their health the last few years has been incredible and it keeps us motivated to work even harder and help as much as we can.”
The former Slovakian number one enjoyed an amazing ongoing season. Despite continuing her losing ways in the start of the season and extending it to a six match losing streak, Hantuchova snapped out from it with style at the Pattaya City WTA event. She cruised into the Thai hard courts and after shocking top seed Vera Zvonareva and Sara Errani; the Slovak grabbed her maiden year-to-date title. The high flying Slovak likely peaked her season when she surprised world number one Caroline Wozniacki at the French Open.
Currently ranked 24th in the Sony Ericsson WTA Premier Rankings, Hantuchova also made quarter-final berths at Doha, Carlsbad, Cincinnati, Quebec and Linz WTA tournaments. Mustering the set further, she made last four appearances at Strasbourg (lost to second seeded German Andrea Petkovic) and Eastbourne (lost to Czech number one Petra Kvitova) WTA International events and made a final showdown at Birmingham WTA International event (lost to fast serving German, Sabine Lisicki). Despite an amazing season, the Slovakian starlet is standing on a four match losing streak and her last best performance was at Linz WTA event.
