PHNOM PENH, Nov 28 (Cambodia Herald) - Leaders from Rattanakiri province in northeast Cambodia and the neighboring Vietnamese province of Kon Tum have signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation for socio-economic development, the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported.

The report said the document, signed in Kon Tum City on Sunday, includes an agreement to ask the two governments to open more border gates to further foster socio-economic development.

VNA said the two provinces had also agreed to continue cooperating in teaching the Vietnamese and Khmer languages and developing human resources.

"The two provinces will continue (to) keep order and security in the border area and turn it into an area of peace, friendship, cooperation and development as well as facilitate the land border demarcation," it said.

The report said Rattanakiri also pledged to continue helping Kon Tum in searching for and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died during the resistance war in Cambodia.
