Cambodian government need not to be fooled by conflicting relationship. You cannot pretend to play ball in both courts. I think, Cambodia needed to becareful not to piss off united states. United States is the world leader not China. I understand that China has potential economic power but China is nowhere close to United States military power and the world influence that United States has. Don't throw away real diamond and pick up diamond from pond shop that you cannot tell if it is real or fake. Although China is part of Cambodian culture and their people is part of Cambodian people but let not make any more mistake of underestimate United States power. United States is the world leader, there is no if or but about it.

I think Hun Sen tried to forge a close relationship with China's army because he realized that he could fall victim to the U.S-induced coup, similar to the 1970 coup against Sihanouk, because the U.S has recently built up a good relationship with the Cambodian Army. Hun Sen is worried that the regular army might turn or be used against him, so he had to ask Pol Saroeun, who had full control of the bodyguard units, to forge an even closer relationship with the Chinese army in order to counter a possible U.S-induced coup against him..

You guys are killing me, are you still living in the stone age? Taking side, China or the US? We (Khmer) don't have these choices. These choices will be force upon us, whether we like it or not. We are not even a quarter of pawn on the chess board. We need to understand their policies and prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Learn to vision the world progress in the 30+. Haven't all of you noticed the recent disaster around the world? Japan, now flooding in Cambodia n Thai. I am not saying the world is coming to an end. There is more to worry about beside taking side politics where we have no saying so whatever into this matter. Worry on something we can control.
