Since the 13th century or right after the 15-16th centuries, some researchers claimed that the Khmer Empire had lost only 11-12 provinces to Siam, the former name of Thailand. Those provinces include: Sisaket (Kauk Khan), Surin (Sangkeac) Nakhorn Racha Sima (Nokor Reach Seima), Buriram (Boreirum), Sakeo (Srah Keo) Prachinburi (Baschem Borey), Ubon (Stung Chrov), Khon Kaen, Chantaburi (Chantraborey), Trat (Trach) Thonburi and Ayuthya.

The loss of these Khmer territories were the result of Siamese expansionist annexations and also due to the weaknesses of the Khmer Empire resulted from internal fighting.

There are undeniable archeological and historical evidences that proved that many Khmer territories were annexed by Siam, such as the many Khmer ancient temples which dotted in today's Thailand and the existence of a large Khmer-speaking population in those provinces.

Many of Khmer provinces were annexed by Siam between 13-16th century.

Many historians who studied Khmer history assumed that the T'ai people, the ancestors of the present Thai people, had firstly migrated (from Nanchao in Yunan in the southern part of China in 1296) to settle in the ancient Khmer capital of Sukhothai and later on expanded their territory to another ancient Khmer capital of Ayuthya and then Lopburi near present day Bangkok. The names of many of these Khmer territories had been inscribed on the walls of ancient Khmer temples during the reign of King Jayavarman VII. Many of the provinces mentioned in the stone inscription during Jayavarman VII's reign had been changed by subsequent Siamese kings from 14-18th century and therefore they have now been lost in history. However, archeological evidences, such as the existence of ancient Khmer temples and Khmer-speaking population in present day Thailand, have undeniably proved that many Thai provinces were once Khmer provinces, such as Ubon, Sisaket, Buriram, Surin, Sakeo, Prachinburi and Chantaburi etc. These archeological evidences proved that there were more than 11-12 Khmer provinces were subsequently annexed by Siam.

For historians, based on historic and archeological evidences, they can assume that more than 11-12 Khmer provinces were lost to Siam. Due to these evidences, on the northeastern part of Bangkok, they assumed that the Khmers had lost Nakorn Phanom (Nokor Phnom), Sakorn Nakorn (Sakor Nokor), Nong Khai, Ler Yor, Buriram, Nakorn Rachasima (Nokor Reach Seima or Pimeach), Sisaket (Kauk Khan), Surin (Sangkeac), Ubon (Stung Chrov), Roi Et, Yusothorn, Mukdhahan, Udon Thani (Oddor Theani), Jayabhumi (Cheyaphum), Mahasarakham, Kalasin and Khorn Kaen. There are evidences of ancient Khmer temples, Khmer culture and Khmer inscriptions found in these present day Thai provinces also.

In the southern part of present-day Thailand in the provinces of Nakorn Srithamaraj (Nokor Siri Dharmareach), Suraj Thani (Soreach Theani), Pakdalung, Songkhla and Yala etc, there were Khmer-speaking population living there up until the 17th century because these territories were under the control of the Khmer empires of Anachak Phnom (Funan) and Chenla.

According to ancient Chinese records, historians were able to ascertain that the central parts of present-day Thailand were also parts of the Khmer Empire because the region was named Red Earth (Sien Lo). Never....this is due to the Khmer stupidity, Khmers always killing Khmers.....Khmers never learn from the past....when the poor getting into power they making so rich....and they forgot where they came from. So the next person or groups want to overthrow them because they became so corrupt and on and on...forever. I just hope Khmers lose all Srok Khmer in the next hundred years to the Thais or to the Viet so Khmer realized that living under the Thais or the Viet isn't that great.....

11:11 PM & 11:12 PM, you don't need to say twice, don't mean shit much. Both Siem and the dogmeating Youn are thieves. They are opportunist hyenas. We've learned from the past that ourland include south Vietnam and the whole damn Thailand. Both of these thieves have no land to start out. And they will have no land in the future. Siem will become thieves and bandits again, while the dogmeat eating Youn, will become thieve rats that live on the boats. These theives were running their tails off from China and rob Khmer land to make their own home. One day, Cambodia will reunite with their long lost territory. This is the mindset of Khmer. This is attitude of all Khmer. So go screw your mother, Siem dogs and dogmeating Youns.

If we look at the map of the Khmer Empire during the reign of King Jayavarman VII in the 12th century, we will see that Cambodia covers much of today's Thailand, Vietnam, Lao. The territory of Khmer Empire extended to China in the north, to Malaysia in the south and to Burma in the west, to Champa in the east.

Yea, and I call you Siemdog thieves. Your kinds were bottomfeeder scums of the empire. Your ancestors were thieves bandits scraping around for survival. You had a big break when we Khmer decided to save your barbaric ass from getting slaughter by the Mongols. We took you in, raised you up to become civilize human race and give you calture, religions, and language the way of Khmer. Yet, as barbaric as you are, you decide to turn against your master. You barbaric Siemdogs are one ungrateful motherfuckers. That is why your neigbors don't trust you. You pieces of shit.

The reality is that, Khmer will loose more lands and culture, the longer our nation is being suppressed by the dictator.

If we look at Siem, they took the opportunity to exploit what was ours and now the world think Siems owns everything. What do we Khmer have now? Ankor Wat! Who really owns Ankor Wat now?? Vietnamese Party, Hun Sen's best friend and business partner.

Siem will continue to steal, and Vietnam will continue to encroach into our motherland. As much as i want changes, I prefer to see Cambodia under the Siem government, they take better care of their citizens and offer many protection and cares. In the Kingdom of Wonder, its better to live in the street and beg for money then to live in a house waiting to be evicted years after years..

We have 3.5 millions uneducated Khmer who wants Vietnamese to take over our land.

This is only your opinion.
You think, that the Khmer live in Thailand are proud to Thai or Khmer Krom are proud to be Viet.
Most so called uneducated Khmer people in Cambodia never want to be someone else.
Only some stupid and idiot always believed, that they are well educated as other. These people are very dangerous. They have different dream and did not fight for their own identity.

Why do khmer alway talk the negative stuff, put each other down and making the younger generation of khmer feel prideless to be khmer.

Provide solution of emphasis on the negative. Stop the negative attitude and do something about it. Make the younger generation proud to be khmer... the younger generation is our future.

Encourage and educate the glory day of khmer heritage. Khmer, we know we had a horrific 500yrs, but we are not extinct, we still have a country call Cambodia... fight for it.

Do something that will make khmer proud... advance yourself and make the future better for khmer children.

Educated Yourself and Learn from the past... Bashing each other online only show weakness. Encourage each other to do better.

The strength of the nation is not base on how much land it has(look at Singapore), but base on the its people skill and knowledge and their will to tackle on any obstacle that block their path to advance.

Stop looking back to your sad past by seating around and blame this or that country taking away your land. It doesn't matter now, that you won't get your land back as you know, you can't go to war with vietnam, unless you are stronger than the US in military power and economy. Even then, the US super power can't win the vietcong which has been proved by history. So forget about it.

What you need now is a wise leadership who can help every cambodian citizen to learn the new skill and the knowledge that you show the world Cambodia can do anything better than any other country in the world.

CAN YOU DO THAT?
