Friends Without a Border will host “Passage to Angkor” its second annual Los Angeles gala on Tuesday, October 25th at the chic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The glamorous fundraiser, benefitting Angkor Hospital for Children and related programs in Siem Reap, Cambodia, is expected to be one of the most exciting events in the Hollywood social calendar. Devon Aoki, David Chang, Goodwin Gaw, Kenro Izu and Jason Pomeranc are serving as the evening's high-profile host committee.

On average, 600 children and their families arrive at Angkor Hospital for Children daily and more than 940,000 sick and malnourished kids have been treated since it opened in 1999. The elegant affair will include a one of a kind performance by the Khmer Arts Ensemble, Khmer-influenced hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, silent and live auctions and an after-party with DJ Mia Moretti at the legendary Teddy’s. The much anticipated auction includes Alfred Wertheimer’s famous print of Elvis Presley - The Kiss.

Friends Without a Border is a nonprofit organization which raises awareness and funds to support Angkor Hospital for Children, a leading pediatric hospital providing medical care to children in post-genocide Cambodia. With a population of about 14 million in Cambodia, over one-third of this nation’s citizens are children under the age of 15. In 1996, 1 out of 6 children died before the age of 5 from preventable illnesses such as diarrhea and upper respiratory infection. In recent years, the ratio decreased to 1 out of 12.

Through Angkor Hospital for Children, Friends Without a Border provides direct medical care and treatment to the children of Cambodia, training for healthcare professionals from throughout the country, and village-based community health programs. Together, Friends Without a Border and Angkor Hospital for Children are rebuilding the devastated healthcare infrastructure of a war-torn and impoverished country.
