Faces of the landmine movement in Cambodia

The countdown to the Eleventh Meeting of the States Parties (11MSP) of the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention begins.

As of 16 October, only seven weeks remain before the international community meets for what will be a major world event in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The week-long meeting will serve to highlight the need for continued efforts to clear mines and assist survivors, not only in South East Asia but in other mine affected regions of the world.

As the Convention returns to a place where it all started two decades ago, the opportunity arises to remember that the landmine movement in Cambodia has many faces.

Each week a new profile will be featured on the Convention’s website in English, French and Spanish: http://apminebanconvention.org. A Khmer-language version will be featured shortly.

The 11MSP will take place in Phonm Penh, 27 November to 2 December 2011.
