Cambodia signs up to receive Chinese office supplies

Foreign Minister Hor Namhong (R) received the office supplies from Chinese Ambassador Pan Guangxue (L).

PHNOM PENH, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday signed up to receive office supplies from the Chinese Embassy to Cambodia.

The supplies included 30 sets of computers, 30 printers, 3 LCD screens and 2 photocopiers.

The hand-over ceremony was signed between the Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong, minister of foreign affairs, and the Ambassador of China to Cambodia Pan Guangxue.

Speaking after the signing ceremony, Pan Guangxue said the donation was to help relieve and facilitate work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"China sees Cambodia as good neighbor, fraternal and partner. All Chinese assistance to Cambodia comes from sincere generosity of the government and people of China," he said.

Hor Namhong expressed thanks to China for all aids to Cambodia and said all Chinese assistance is very necessary to fill up the shortage in Cambodia.

Meanwhile, Hor Namhong also signed up to receive the flood relief aids of 50 million yuan (7.8 million U.S. dollars) from China.

The Chinese flood relief aids include more than 30 types of medications, medical supplies and equipment, mosquito nets, blankets, towels and other relief materials, totaling about 160 tons. They had already arrived in Cambodia over the weekend.

Cambodia has been hit the worst in the last decade by the Mekong River and flash floods since early August. To date, at least 247 people had been killed and about 1.5 million people affected.

Some 2,410 kilometers of roads have affected and other 660 kilometers of roads have been damaged.
