Re: Plea For Indian Initiative To Resolve Thai-Cambodian Conflict Over Preah Vihar – Analysis
Let's make it crystal clear: Prasat Preah Vihear is NOT on Thailand/Cambodia border. It is clearly situated INSIDE Cambodia, according to border agreement in 1907 between Siam (Thailand) and France, the then colonial master of Cambodia.
There should not be any question over Cambodia's rightful ownership of Preah Vihear temple. Thailand is fully aware of this. Regardless, Thailand is making something out of nothing by faking up the story of 4.6 square km as "disputed territory", just to fool the world and to have something to argue about. Thailand was willing to risk lives to take it so to get closer to Preah Vihear.
If Thailand is allowed to take that disputed 4.6 square km of land, Cambodia is basically handing the temple over to Thailand. This is why Thailand has staunchly ignored any negotiations or peaceful agreements with Cambodia. I hope the world see both side of the story, not just from Thailand's side of view.
