BANGKOK, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Daranee Kritboonyalai, a fugitive key member of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), or the "Red-shirt", planned to turn herself in on October 3, the group's lawyer Karom Ponthaklang said Thursday.
The lawyer unveiled that Daranee had contacted him telling she would return from the neighboring Cambodia to Thailand on October 2 before surrendering to the police on October 3, local media Spring News reported.
On October 3, she would report to the Lumpini police station to acknowledge a charge of violating the emergency decree, he added.
Daranee, together with another 18 "Red-shirt" leaders and many more members, are wanted under the arrest warrant breaching the emergency decree during the mass anti-Democrat-led government protest at the Ratchaprasong intersection during March-May 2009.
Soon after the forceful dispersal on May 19, she and some core leaders fled to Cambodia and have lived in self-imposed exile since.
Karom expressed his confidence that the police would only inform the charge and then release her.
In March, other four "Red-shirt" leaders -- Suporn Atthawong, Waipoj Arpornrat, Phayup Panket and Shinawat Haboonpak turned themselves in to the authorities as well but were released on bails.
