Indonesian Military (TNI) chief Adm. Agus Suhartono received in Phnom Penh the Royal Order of Sahametrei Mohaserevadh (Grand Cross) honorary medal from the Cambodian government on Thursday.
The medal was handed over by Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen. Tea Banh, who represented the king of Cambodia.
Several other TNI officials also received honorary badges of different kinds at the same ceremony.
The Indonesian Military has been providing training for Cambodian special forces in the Pusdik Passus training center in Bandung, West Java, since the 1960s.
Agus said in a press statement sent to kompas.com that the granting of the honorary medals could further tighten military ties between Indonesia and Cambodia.
