Defence Minister Yutthasak Sasiprapa on Friday morning left for Phnom Penh for an official visit to Cambodia at the invitation of Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Tia Banh, reports said.

Gen Yutthasak said before leaving that his visit is for strengthening ties between the two countries and paving way for a meeting of the General Border Committee to settle the border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia.

“If everything is ready, the GBC meeting will be held immediately. I insist that there will be no hidden agenda or any vested interest during the meeting”, he said.

Asked about the annual military reshuffle, the defence minister said the reshuffle list had been agreed by the armed force commanders and the supreme commander and forwarded to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra for consideration.

Gen Yutthasak said there was no conflict on the reshuffle with the political branch as was speculated.

Kampon Kittiampon, secretary general to the cabinet told reporters on Friday morning that the military reshuffle list had been submitted to His Majesty the King for royal endorsement.
