Ranariddh said he did, Nhiek Bunchhay said I didn't

Nhiek Bunchhay, the executive president of Funcinpec Party, has denied claims by officials from the Norodom Ranaridhh Party (NRP) that he had approached some Oknhas (knights/lords) to lobby Prince Norodom Ranaridhh (pictured), the president of Norodom Ranariddh Party, to return to lead the nearly moribund Funcinpec Party.

Upon arriving at Siem Reap Airport from Paris on Wednesday, 24th August, Prince Ranariddh, who swore never to return to lead Funcinpec Party, confirmed that some Oknhas did approach him as requested by Nhiek Bunchhay. "When the water nearly reach his nose (nearly drown), he didn't want to talk to me directly, but he asked some rich people or some powerful people, the Oknhas, whom I don't need to mention names, to come and talk to me. I wish to say that, if all of them want a unity under a royalist umbrella, under the royalist party or under Sihanoukism, the NRP's door is open. Please come and don't waste any time", he said of Nhiek Bunchhay.

However, Mr. Nhiek Bunchhay has denied Prince Ranaridhh's claim and said that he had never asked any Oknhas or has never implored Prince Ranariddh to return to lead the Funcinpec Party. He said the rumour was concocted by the NRP. "Maybe this kind of information comes from the NRP, from those close to the Prince. From what I have monitored, they have set out to leak this information. But, the truth is the opposite", he said.

Prince Ranaridhh was ousted in a 2006 party coup d'etat led by Nhiek Bunchhay. He later formed the NRP. However, due to the break up of the royalist votes, both parties had only managed to win 2 seats each in the 2008 national election.

my god, why can't these people get a clue? Cambodian people doesn't his ass any more. They know who he is and who represents. The Sihanouk and royal party is done. I don't see how they can reconstruct a broken glass. They should jump on the ban vagan with SRP who also ready to be destroyed due to its internal conflict. The leadership so weak and wanted to be president for life. The party name is about one person not others that work so hard for social movement. Wake up smell the coffee; you guy too old now. Let the new generation lead the country. PM Hun Sen is not done yet; if retired then I can see others can win.

The old guys are no match to Hun Sen in term of political strategies and in addition, they tear each other apart even before they smell the coffee. Go figure!

It probably make sense for him to retire from politics. Don't even try to become the king because you are unfit figure. King Sihakmoni done good job as king; we don't need disgrace Rannaridh. The monarchy image damaged because of rannaridh.
