SRP warns of street protests if Sam Rainsy is not allowed into the country

The opposition Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) has warned that people will go out to the streets to call for the return of its party leader, Sam Rainsy, who has been exiled since 2009 after being sentenced to 12 years imprisonment on dubious charges of spreading disinformation about Vietnam's encroachments of Cambodia's borders.

Mu Sochua (pictured), a senior SRP MP, warned in an interview Radio Free Asia that street protests is the SRP's last resort after all avenues have been exhausted in trying to bring its leader back into the country.

The ruling Cambodian People's Party has in the past said that Sam Rainsy can return back to Cambodia only if he stops defaming the royal government, otherwise he has to face prison term. Please listen to Mu Sochua's interview with RFA.

Mu Sochua is brave and fit for Prime Minister candidate. Sam Rainsy is washed up and not in the level to compete with PM Hun Sen. There is no way, he can win the election. He has tried many times already and I would like to see some fresh candidate to compete against PM Hun Sen. If you are doing the same thing, you will get the same result. Have you seen anything different from Sam Rainsy? NONE. Mu Sochua on the other hand bring fresh ideas, new face and new challenges for PM Hun Sen. I doubt that she will ever get that chance as long as she is under the Sam Rainsy banner.

When ah thai starts to fight, she does not know what to do. She has no idea about military and no Gen. listen to her.

She can also cry to international communities for help. Nowaday, no one really given a damn, if the Thais start shooting.
