Khmers should not kick Vietnamese out of Kampuchea Krom

Warrior Blood said...

In term of comments regarding the Kampuchea Krom territory, I think Cambodia probably will not be able to get the land back physically, given the Vietnamese people had settled there many years and bought houses, land and do business etc. This is the reality my Khmer fellows and we should not be dreaming of waging war against innocent people. However, there is a model that Khmer Krom should investigate and consider to seek for peaceful solution.

In America; American-Indians were able to negotiate with the US government to have special treaty for American-Indians to co-exist peacefully with the rest of the American citizens. America recognizes that American-Indians were the original owners of the land that every American is currently residing. In America, there are two systems governing the country: American-Indians can either follow the American system or American-Indian system. If American-Indians made infraction with the law, he/she can either faces American court system or face tribal leader for the infraction made. If he/she committed capital crime then he/she must faces American justice system.

There are many incentive for American-Indians such as free from paying tax; special incentive for Indian reservation areas, assistance financially with schooling, do business etc. American-Indians don't have the philosophy kicking American citizens out of the country like Khmer Krom seeking to do with Vietnamese. Why do you want to do if America recognize you as special group already? America is a melting pot; America is so diverse culturally and ethnically. People can live among each other and respect the constitution of the United States. If you look at either $1 dollar bill; you will see pictures of Eagle and Pyramid representing both systems.

Khmer Krom people need to follow this model if they wanted Kampuchea Krom territory back, not physically, but rather in term of rights. The land is there, but the Khmer Krom people lost their rights and freedom as original people. Let's make sure Khmer Krom understand this clearly. If you want to fight, it has to be about gaining freedom and equality. You cannot come out wanting to kick Vietnamese out of their homes.

The Khmer Rouge regime tried that and it was a brutal method and I wouldn't recommend it. It will not work; it only causes pain and suffering to innocent people. Khmer and Vietnamese should be able to coexist together as neighbors/friends and pursue their own dreams whatever they wanted to be to better their future. This is how Khmer Krom should be thinking rather than taking the hardline approach. Just think about America, how do you feel if your parents bought the house and paid off, suddenly someone came to tell you to move out because the land doesn't belong to you? Your parents worked hard all of their lives to purchase a single home to raise the family? You would be upset, I guess.

Please Khmer Krom people, you've got to rethink for your method on how to gain control over Khmer Krom land differently. France cannot take the land back for you either unless we go to war and killing more innocent people. Would you want to do that? I don.t think so, this is 2011. France can be your major supporter for Khmer Krom to fight for freedom and equality and makes Vietnam's government to recognize the original owners of the land and provide some types of special rights/incentives to support Khmer Krom children so that they can be successful. After all, we are human race and we shouldn't discriminate against each other because of the color or ethnic background and languages.

YOUR DAY DREAM IS GOOD BUT IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN IN YOUR LIFE TIME.

Warrior Blood made some good points, but we have to understand that this is Vietnam, not The United States. They are two different counties with different culture, different history, and most important of all, have different ideology. The Vietnamese will do anything to erase and to demoralize the Khmer Krom culture and their identity. They believe the Khmer Krom is threatening their existence, and they have no reason to preserve the Khmer Krom culture and the religion what-so-ever.

If you look at American-Indian history; United States almost completely wiped out American-Indian from the face of this earth. The killings, torture, dirty tactics were used not much different from Khmer Krom history. The matter of facts; many States in America belongs to Mexico. Right now in United States, Spanish population is the third largest after black. It is the largest voting block. It predicted that by 2025, Spanish will pass black population and by year 2050, Spanish population will become the majority population surpass white. Strategically if your population become prosper, growths, beome high ranking official, medical doctors, lawyers, sucessful business owners, educated, rich, fame etc; your people will become powerful. Khmer Krom land never move anywhere. I hope this will help clear some thought a bit. If you want change, you start with human development individually; each one of us has the responsiblities to raise our kids to be productive ensure them that he/she is sucessful financially and mentally. The more your population become rich, more educate, the powerful your group will become. Remember the law of nature, noone live forever, power come and goes, if you prepared your children for tomorrow, you can almost certain to predict the future outcomes. If your children prepared his/her children for tomorrow, then your generation will become stronger and stronger. Just look at how Jewish population become so powerful after the Nazi which almost wiped them out. Now Jewish control almost everything in the United States financially.

It’s easier to say than done. If you think that every one can be like the United States, then it would be haven on earth. Vietnam will never be like America. America has multi-culture, religions, but only has one ideology which is freedom. The Vietnamese government can’t even dream to give the Vietnamese people the freedom that they deserved; therefore, no way on earth that the Vietnamese government will give the freedom to Khmer Krom that they’re desired. I’m not talking about the land and its’ boundary, but rather talking about these people’s culture, traditions, religion, and language, which represents the Khmer Krom’s identity, and which the Vietnamese government is willing to abolish and to destroy. We must remember that it does matter where we are, if we able to keep our identity, no international boundary in this world can keep us apart. My father has told me that he can take me out of Cambodia, but he’ll never be able take Cambodia out of me. If we lost our identity (culture, language, traditions, and religion) we are pretty much just a bunch of lost souls.

I don't think this will ever happen in any of your lifetime or your children's. It's like Mexican/Indian can't never get back America. Vietnam can take all Cambodia but they don't want like in 1989 when they occupied Cambodia for 10 years.
