[Australian actor] Jack Thompson returns to Cambodia

Reporter: Alex Cullen
Producer: Rebecca Le Tourneau
Date aired: 24/07/2011

Sunday Night joins Australia’s film and television great Jack Thompson as he returns to Cambodia to fulfill a special promise.
Twenty years after he saved the lives of scores of Cambodian children with his late best mate Peter Carrette, the paparazzi photographer, Jack goes back to the country for a very special re-union.
The two men set up an orphanage for the children they rescued from ‘Site Two’, the largest refugee camp in the world at the time. Now, in the wake of Carrette’s death in November last year, Thompson returns to Cambodia with Peter Carrette’s former wife, their daughter, and ex-model Michelle Leslie, also a friend of Peter.
It’s a story of love and mateship, and the moment Jack is re-united with the blind orphan he’d saved 20 years ago, a wonderful moment of hope.

Amazing story, and to have it all captured on film from 20 years back is almost incredible.

Thanks to all involved for their love and humanity for these children and for Cambodia.

It's an amazing story, thanks for upload this video clips. I was missed 2/3 of the program yesterday. Thanks to all Aussie blokes who took 200% of their efforts and generosity to help gave Cambodian orphanage children a new life. As a Cambodian citizen I am humble and great full for your golden heart. RIP Mr. Peter Carrette.

It was an emotional reunion. I watched the video 20 years ago and it was an emotional homecoming for the orphans. This show that if people care, others will survive and even thrive. Thanks to Jack Thomson, Peter Carrette and Benito for their hard works and dedication in saving these orphans.
