Thailand rejects allegations about violations of Cambodian airspace

On 8 June 2011, in response to media enquiries regarding Cambodia’s allegation that Thailand had violated Cambodian airspace on 31 May, 1 and 3 June 2011, Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Director-General of the Department of Information and Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had sent a reply note to the Royal Embassy of Cambodia.

In the said note, the Royal Thai Government categorically denied all the allegations made by Cambodia and expressed its disappointment that Cambodia has once again made baseless accusations against Thailand without any attempt to verify information with the Thai authorities concerned through existing communication channels at local, regional and national levels. Thailand also reiterated that it has never had any ill-intention towards Cambodia and rejected the allegation that it was preparing an offensive against Cambodia. On the contrary, Thailand remains committed to resolving all outstanding issues with Cambodia peacefully and amicably through existing bilateral mechanisms in accordance with the wish of the ASEAN Leaders. Thailand wishes to see the maintenance of a positive atmosphere between the two countries. All efforts at the bilateral and regional levels continue to move forward and their momentum should be sustained. In this regard, Thailand reaffirmed that it has always been ready to work closely with Cambodia for the mutual benefit of its peoples and hopes that this feeling of friendship is mutual and that this goodwill will be reciprocated by Cambodia.

Thailand fitted in the category B of war crimes

The draft statute enumerates four different categories of war crimes. The first two categories apply to international armed conflicts and are largely based on well-established principles of international law. Here is brief support for Category B:

B. Other serious violations of the laws and customs applicable in international armed conflicts , these provisions are derived largely from the Hague law.

- targeting civilians;(Thailand targeting Cambodian civilian in the Feb and april clashed )
- targeting buildings devoted to art or science; (Thailand targeted Preah Vihear Temple on 04/02/2011 clashed)

The use of particular weapons(Thailand used cluster bombs in the Feb and April 2011 clashed against Cambodia), such as poison or poisoned weapons, gas weapons, (Thailand used poison or poisoned weapons in the Feb and April 2011 clashed against Cambodia), chemical weapons and bacteriological weapons; also constituting a grave breach of the Geneva Conventions.

The long arms of the international laws will catch up with Thailand soon if Thailand still acting ruthlessly against Cambodia .
