A RECORD number of Australian colleges staged an education fair over the weekend in Phnom Penh for students wanting to broaden their studies in the country.
Twenty six educational institutions took part in the IDP Study in Australia Exhibition, held at the National Institute of Education on Sunday.
Youngsters had the chance to meet teachers face to face and ask questions about secondary or tertiary qualifications during the fair.
In addition, officials from the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship were on hand to explain any queries about visa applications.
“Australia’s popularity as a study destination for Cambodians continues to grow,” said Tim Ricketts, the department’s principal migration officer in Phnom Penh.
“The department is pleased to once again be involved in this exhibition to aid prospective students with visa information.”
The education event, run by IDP Education, is now in its eighth year, and was officially opened by Australian Ambassador Penny Richards.
IDP is co-owned by Australian universities and has been assisting Cambodians to study in Australia since 1995. Counselling and assistance with study applications is provided to Cambodian students free of charge.
“Obtaining an Australian education or tertiary qualification which is recognised and respected globally can become one’s most valued asset,” said Sreng Mao, IDP office manager.
Advisers were on hand to explain a broad range of study programmes and pathway options, he added.
