Cambodia has rejected Thailand's claims that Unesco has postponed or delayed the management of the Preah Vihear plan proposed by Cambodia during the first two days meeting in Paris.
The Thai Nation newspaper reported on Saturday, 28th May, that Unesco had backed Thailand's proposal to delay the consideration of the plan until both countries had permanently demarcated their borders.
Mr. Phay Siphan (pictured), spokesman for Cambodia's Council of Ministers, said that Thailand had lied when it claimed that Unesco has agreed with Thai proposal to delay the Preah Vihear management plan for another year. He said, in fact, the Unesco meeting in the last two days only focused on the damages of Preah Vihear temple caused by Thai shells during the armed clashes on 4-7 February.
He said the topic about the Preah Vihear management plan proposed by Cambodia has not been discussed yet. So, the Thai claims that Unesco has backed its proposal to delay the Preah Vihear management plan is total lie, he said.
