Parliament yesterday withdrew three minutes of the Thai-Cambodian Joint Boundary Commission, as proposed by Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya.
The joint sitting of the House and Senate withdrew the minutes of the JBC meeting in Siem Reap on Nov 10-12 last year, the JBC meeting in Bangkok on Feb 3-4, 2009, and the JBC meeting in Phnom Penh on April 6-7, 2009, with votes of 297:2, 297:1 and 287:1.
Mr Kasit proposed the withdrawal as the Constitution Court had found demarcation proceedings by the JBC were not yet complete and it was not time for the court to rule if they should require Thai parliamentary approval.
Mr Kasit said the government therefore should withdraw its request for parliamentary approval for the three minutes and proceed with the demarcation process instead.
The parliament yesterday also supported the stance of a parliamentary committee considering the JBC issue with a vote of 240:12.
The committee, headed by Democrat MP Charoen Kanthawong, views that Thai and Cambodian leaders should discuss solutions to border disputes because the bilateral 2000 memorandum of understanding for demarcation cannot function.
It also said civilians and soldiers should leave the disputed area near the Preah Vihear temple to pave the way for demarcation, the Thai government should help affected Thai people pending the demarcation, and Thai representatives in the JBC should argue against Cambodia's repeated accusations at JBC meetings that Thailand has encroached on its soil.
Asda Jayanama, head of JBC negotiations, said he believed the three JBC minutes should not have gone to the parliament because they were only guidelines for officials to proceed with the border negotiations.
"How would [the minutes] cause a loss of territory?" he said.
"The government might move forward to negotiate [with Cambodia] because the House has seen the minutes, but the senators and MPs did not dare to make a decision.
"I will take the lead in making further negotiations. Why should I be afraid?"

If Thailand want to be leading role in ASEAN community Thailand have to set the standard honesty and integrity not just talk Thailand have to walk in the fine line don't see self important .
Thailand haven't honor 1904-1907 treaty with Franco thailand haven't honor the 1962 ICJ verdict and what else is on the pipeline Thailand may change her mind the next day because is not benefit to Thailand as the whole .
The border issue is a century old from government to government the only thing Thailand have done is find all the excuses and make the issue complicated .
If Thailand want good neighbor Thailand have to settle issue fair and square.

The detail is quite differences the Thai Parliament vote (240 to 12)-69-9 no votes
and demand Khmer withdraw all the troops from dispute area and accuse Khmer JBC of falsify information look like is long day Cambodia .
Accusation and falsify information it not the same meaning Bangkok Post should report more accurate than this
By now Thai politicians should have learned a painful lessons which ought not to repeat in the future. If you have internal problems solve it yourself, don't drag your neighbor to involve with or use your neighbor as a hostage.
Most Cambodian that involve in politic as politicians in Cambodia because they are try to get better position in government and plus better chance of corruption to gain millions of US dollars. That is the only one purpose of most politicians in Cambodia.
They don't care about The Cambodian people, The Khmer Nation as much as they care about their luxurious cars, big modern villas, millions $US deposited in the banks, Sex with teenagers.
If they just put their mind to build Cambodia. The Cambodia will be like Singapore right now or even better Country and Nation.
Innocent Cambodian people die to serve politic but the politicians are the only group get happiness at the end. Is it true through Cambodia history?
Examples:
Prince Norodom Ranariddh and Funcinpec Party, from 1979 to 1993, how many Khmer lives were dying or lost their limbs because of they believe in Dr. Prince Norodom Ranariddh and his Funcinpec Party. They were carry guns, bombs to fight with Vietnam. They don’t even have salary or proper foods. They were fighting because they believe they would have better chance to have better future as they promised them during they were using them as tool to gain power in serve their politic goal.
As they won the election 1993, Funcinpec Party and the party leaders slowly forget them and their suffering in severing Ranariddh and Funcinpec politics goal and purposes. They (disable veterans of war) lived like animals bag people for money on the street but the majority of top Funcinpec Party are living in Luxury lifestyle practice their European lifestyle and their Royal lifestyle. The disable veterans that were serve them before can’t even meet them ask for their charity because they simply have forgotten and order their bodyguard push them away like animals.
1997 Thousand of Khmer lives again were dying for serving Ranariddh and Funcinpec Party leaders but they have been simply forgotten by Dr. Ranariddh and Funcinpec Party again and again. They were dying for the sake of serving politic lead by the politicians as mention above.
So the question is “Are you Khmer people willing to die for they can be rich and famous and you be forgotten?”
Not only Cambodia, but no other countries will trust Thailand again because Thailand did not respect the 1904-1907 treaty, the 1962 international court verdict and now it rescinded the three agreements reached during nearly 3 years of talks with Cambodia. If Thailand can just dishonor any agreements like this, how can anyone negotiate with it? They can't trust Thailand because Thailand can throw away the agreements any time. So, Cambodia is right not to engage in any bilateral talks with Thailand any further. This is very dishonest of Thailand to reach the agreements and then dishonor them. Shame on Thailand!
