Cambodia briefed 15 foreign military attaches about the casulaties from 7 days of fighting

Cambodian Defence Ministry has yesterday briefed military attaches from 15 embassies, including the Thai embassy, about the Cambodian casualties from the fighting from 22-28 April.

During the briefing, Maj-Gen. Phat Vibol Sopheak, director of department of international relations of Defence Ministry, said that 7 Cambodians were killed, 17 wounded and 8,000 families or 30,000 people had been displaced by the fighting, the majority of them are children and old people. On top of this, one school and 10 houses have been destroyed by Thai shells.

In the briefing, Gen. Phat Vibol Sopheak told those military attaches that during the fighting from 22-28 April, the Thai side had used fighter jets to launch attacks from the air, used DK 75mm, DK 82mm and 105mm and 155mm artillery rockets against Cambodian troops and civilians, reaching as far as 22km deep inside Cambodian territory.

On top of this, Thai troops had fired many artillery rockets into Cambodia and at Cambodian positions during the fighting at Veal Entry, Phnom Trop, Chak Chreng and Preah Vihear temple during fighting on Tuesday 26th April.
