Another Cambodian domestic worker in Malaysian has made a mayday phone call to her parents asking them to inform authority to rescue her claiming that she was tortured and raped by her Malaysian employer.

27 year-old Ouk Seng, who came from Thlork commune, Svay Chrum district in Svay Rieng province, was recruited by Champa Man Power job agency to work as a maid in Malaysia since September 2010. She had just phoned her mother recently that she was raped three times by her Malaysian employer and he threatened to kill her if she informed anyone or authority about the rape. The first rape happened on 30th March and subsequently two times after that.

Ouk Seng's mother, 66 year-old Ms. Srey Sophal, has appealed to the Cambodian government to help rescue her daughter. "Please help rescue my daughter and bring her back to Cambodia very soon because she is very terrified and cried a lot. She is scared that the rapist (her employer) will give her some medicine and drug that could make her become mad", she said.

An opposition MP from the Sam Rainsy Party, Ms. Mu Sochua, told reporters in front of the parliament building that she is trying to get authority to help rescue this girl. "We've seen that our women working in Malaysia are facing serious abuses. On the contrary, we've seen that the Ministry of Labour has ignored these issues", she said.

Currently, there are about 25,000 Cambodians working in Malaysia, mostly domestic workers. There are many claims of abuses, rapes and tortures by their Malaysian employers.

In mid-March, a Cambodian maid has made a random mayday telephone call to Cambodia and got through to a stranger who then reported her case to the Cambodian police and the Cambodian media. Khmerization blog published the articles and circulated it to more than 400 people, including the Malaysian embassy in Cambodia (malppenh@kln.gov.my ) and the Kuala Lumpur Police (rmp@rmp.gov.my ) who then took swift action to contact her and rescue her. The latest report indicated that the maid will be repatriated back to Cambodia sometimes this week.
