DAP News quoted Cambodian commanders as saying that 5 Thai soldiers were killed and 9 were wounded and 3 Cambodian soldiers were killed and 3 wounded during clashes this morning at four locations along the Cambodian-Thai border in Oddar Meanchey province.

Fighting erupted at Choup Koki village, Thmor Daun village, Ta Krabey and Ta Moan Thom temple at 6 a.m this morning after Thai troops had reportedly moved 300-500 metres deep into Cambodian territory.

Border situations in provinces along the Khmer-Thai border are very tense. In the Thai town of Aranyaprathet opposite Cambodia's Banteay Meanvhey province, Kampuchea Thmey reported that the Thai military had mobilised 3-4 truckloads of troops based about 5-6 kilometres from the Cambodian border. The report said that the trucks were heading north to Ta Krabey temple.

Cambodian military sources claimed that Thai soldiers had fired 800 rounds of various and 105 mm rockets during the fighting and they had landed near Banteay Ampil district, about 20 kilometres from the Thai border. They also said that Thai fighter jets had been flying back and forth over Ta Moan Thom temple.

The report said that villagers living near Ta Krabey and Ta Moan Thom temples, Choup Koki and Thmor Daun villages had been evacuated.

However, at 9:06 a.m this morning, the fighting subsided after a meeting between Mr. Chan Sokhon, Cambodian commander of Brigade 382 and Mr. Wuthichai, Thai commander of Brigade 61 which started at 8:36 a.m. Both commanders are optimistic that there won't be any clashes at Preah Vihear temple.

Good to hear that Khmer soldiers are not afraid to fight the Thai invaders, but I am suspicious that Hun sen might order the Cambodian troops to fight against Thai soldiers as a diversion from domestic politics such as the crackdown on Boeng Kak protesters, the claim he got lung cancer and CPP internal revolt?

I joint the army in 1979 I was really young at the time I have walked in the 1980 Parade in those day we have 18 viet divisions station in cambodia I left the army in 1986 I knew a lot of those commanders in the frontline a ex-comrade of mine told me last year our troop number I've been slash in half since I left to my understanding a lot of ghost army we don't have much new gears we don't even have boots a lot army commanders care about themselves how many stars they have and the poor soldiers who do the fighting for them .
It time our gov take priority double our military size buy the new equipment to strengthen our military most of military is rule by some group of people and don't overlook those soldiers and their families Do all it take for the safety of our troops every time is fighting I hope my ex-comrades are fine and come home for theirs families.

I think Hun Sen might order Khmer troops to attack Thailand as diversion from many issues like indictment on him and his comrades for crimes during as Khmer Rouge, evicting people for land, elected by as PM by illegal viets who roaming Cambodia like ants, human rights abuses, kill opposition leaders and remove immunity for those he could not kill yet, frauds and corrupts, and endless problems and chaos.....

5:42 PM,If what you said was true then your boss (siamese)
were the ultimate idiot to deploy thai soldier in such a way that Hun Sen could exploit it to promote his agenda.
