There Is No So-Called Disputed Area

By Sisowath Thomico
Letter to The Cambodia Daily

A few weeks ago, I wrote a paper about the so-called «disputed area» around the Preah Vihear Temple which was published in the Cambodia Daily. In that article I tried to explain that, from the legal point of view of the Ruling of the International Court of Justice of June 15, 1962, there is no such «disputed area».

It looks as though I have been unsuccessful as, in his «Premier Warns Thais Away From Border Pagoda» report of March 15, 2011 edition of the Cambodia Daily, Phorn Bopha still mentioned the so-called «disputed area».

Once and for all, I would like to explain to all the Cambodian journalists and reporters and to my beloved fellow compatriots that we, Khmers, cannot write or say «disputed area» around the Preah Vihear Temple without conceding that the judgement of the ICJ is unclear - which is completely untrue -, and without renouncing our sovereign rights over the area surrounding Preah Vihear - which is totally unacceptable.

In order to describe the dispute between Thailand and Cambodia over that plot of land, the right expression would be «the area claimed by Thailand». So, I beg all the Cambodian journalists and reporters: Please, do not to use the expression «disputed area» anymore, in order to respect the legacy of the King-Father who brought the case before the Court in 1959, and who was given justice in 1962.

the first comment is very rude and out of context look like he is a siam yellow shirt (or metally ill siam shit)there's no place 4 people like that in the civilize society .
if u smart enough read the world court verdict careful u will see , the ICJ take theirs time to explained they used the word "according to the map" "siam accepting the map without any objection" they used normal standard wording of the western world nothing fancy or hard to understand it is crystal clear for people who understand unless u forget to take your daily pills.

Thanks to Prince Thomico for clarifying to unsuspecting foreigners and Cambodians. The judgment was very clear: Thailand has to withdraw all troops, police and guards from the temple of Preah Vihear and the temple's vicinity. It means that the surrounding lands, which Thailand called "disputed zone" is not a disputed zone, but Cambodian territory. Cambodia controlled that land until Thai troops invaded it on 15th July 2008 because Hun Sen didn't care about deploying enough troops to protect the area even the Thai yellow shirts have been threateneing for months to march to the area. So, all the blames are on Hun Sen.

cambodia should strengthen its military , investing in the long range missiles BM30 or PHL-03(100 units) will deter the invader .
help is too late and too far and take too long.

this cambodia insurance policy:
150 units of(BM30 or PHL-03)
The BM-30 Smerch has 12 tubes for 300-mm rockets. The standard rocket is 7.6 m long and weights 800 kg. This multiple launch rocket system has firing range of 20 - 70 km. Rockets are fitted with a range and direction correction system for better accuracy. A number of rockets are developed for this vehicle, including HE-FRAG, fuel-air explosive, incendiary, cluster with anti-personnel and anti-tank mines or self-guided anti-tank munitions. Rocket launchers not enough, they can be destroyed by thai jets. we need jets, many of them to counter with Thai war planes, they got over 300 F-16s.
