Military tensions along Koh Koh-Trat borders

By Khmerization
Source: Kampuchea Thmey

Rumours milling around that the Thai Army had reinforced more troops along the Koh Kong-Trat borders, including deploying 6 warship along the coast with Cambodia. However, the Thai side had assured the Cambodian side that Thailand had no intention of making war with Cambodia.

A Cambodian commander said a Thai admiral, Maj-Gen. Phongsak Phiriroj, who is commander of Thai naval fleet from Trat and Chantaburi, had told him that the 6 warships deployed near the coast with Cambodia were for naval exercises only, not for a war preparation with Cambodia.

Cambodia's commanders Lt-Gen. Keo Pong and Maj-Gen. Kor Bun, commanders of Military Region Five, had requested for a meeting with the Thai side to clarify any possible misunderstanding that can trigger the clashes.

Adm. Phongsak made a promised to the Cambodian side that Thai troops along the Trat-Chantaburi provinces, which border with Cambodia's Koh Kong, Pursat and Pailin and Battambang provinces, will not instigate any armed clashes with Cambodian troops. He told the Cambodian side not to believe in rumours that Thailand had reinforced troops to the area, saying that any troop deployments to the area were for the purpose of a joint military drill with American troops which had been planned about one year ago. He said the eruption of armed clashes in Preah Vihear had coincided with this joint Thai-American military drill because of a misunderstanding that Thailand had increased troop numbers to the Preah Vihear border areas, he said. He, however, promised that Cambodians and Thais must not fight one another like politicians from both countries because Cambodians and Thais are brothers and sisters since a very, very long time.

By now we should know how deceptive and manipulative the Thais are, and it is absurd if we still believe anything from the Thais.

When they said "they will not attack us" it really mean that they will attack us. If they said that "they are brothers and sisters with us", it meant that we enemy with them.

And we should not trust any of the Thais, even their former Prime Minister Thaksin, remember he is Thai.
