Maj-Hun Manet, eldest son of Prime Minister Hun Sen and Deputy Commander of Royal Cambodian Army, has made a visit to Phnom Trop, the scene of the most heavy fighting between Cambodian and Thai troops from 4-7 February.
His delegation arrived at the Cambodian camp site at 10:30 a.m yesterday, Thursday 10th February. During a speech to the troops, he told them that he will he sacrifice everything to defend Cambodian sovereignty and territorial integrity against the Thai invasion.
At the base he met with Gen. Chea Dara, commander of the Preah Vihear Operations and Gen. Yim Pim, commander of the 8th Division, who briefed Gen. Hun Manet about the military situations and the bravely of Cambodian troops who fought fiercely against the Thai troops in the areas of Chak Chreng, Phnom Trop, Ta Thav, Ta Sem and Veal Entry.
Gen. Hun Manet had also conveyed a message of congratulations from his father, Prime Minister Hun Sen and his mother, Lady Bun Rany, to the troops for their sacrifices to defend the nation against foreign aggression. After the meeting, Hun Manet had lunch with the troops and local commanders before leaving the front line.
A Thai newspaper recently reported that Hun Manet was injured during the fight on Sunday 6th February. With this visit and the picture, it seem that he is uninjured.

this young man is so brave in fighting for his country. he's a hero that in khmer history i never heard a king's son has fought for the country. i don't care what his dad has done, but to me his name should be written as a khmer hero in 21 century.

We only heard it from the news, but we have not seen him in the battlefields yet. May be this is just Hun Sen's propaganda to promote Hun Manet in the hope that Cambodian military commanders and the Cambodian people will readily accept him as a successor to Hun Sen. For me, it is hard to imagine that Hun Manet was in the battlefields commanding Cambodian troops during the fighting with Thai troops. I think he was staying far behind the front lines ordering the troops with walkie talkie or mobile phones or two-way radio.

Let's give HM a chance to show his willingness to improve the political conditions in Cambodia. I hope you stop your prejudgement before giving him a chance. All of you must have nothing to do in the States, but criticising people. Don't bark, let action speaks for itself.
Yes, Chea Dara wore jogging shoes instead of army shoes. This is very undisciplined and careless indeed. He is a commander of the whole Preah Vihear operations, so he should be more disciplined. All of them in the pictures dressed and look more relaxed and casual compared to the Thai officers on the ground who look very disciplined and always on the alert.
